Every Spring

Every spring I seem to go through the same tradition. As the weather warms up a bit I get the urge to see some baseball. I throw on Ken Burns Baseball and think about doing paintings of the ghosts of Baseball's past. One day I will do a series of great baseball moments, for now a little sketch will suffice. This image caught my eye, partially because as a nine year old I dreamed of being a pitcher. It was a heartbreaking moment to realize I did not have a "little league arm" much less a "major" one. "The Wind Up" 24"x 24" oil on canvas. The smaller one is 8"x 8" oil on panel.

Figure Studies

Going back to school provided me the opportunity to do some figure studies. Always a challenge. The first two are slightly smaller then life size 34"x 40". The rest of them are 16"x 20". All of them are done in oils.

First Endeavor 2009

This group of painting I did after arriving at Grad School in 2009. I had a show in October that year and I had to get all these done in about eight weeks. The are six are 14"x 11" and the last seven are 18"x 24" all oil on panel. I did all these as if they are the postcards I wanted to send to someone while traveling around. They either came from a place I was visiting or were inspired by something I saw while on the road.

First Post

First post on a new blog. This page will be dedicated to finding out what I am wanting to paint. The painting here will illustrate a journey of discovery as I am trying to find what body of work I want to paint. This is a figure painting 34"x 40" done in oil, slightly smaller then life size.
